VETRYA: designed and developed by TIM and Qualcomm the first service in the world of "multi view streaming" for 5G connectivity
VETRYA: designed and developed by TIM and Qualcomm the first service in the world of "multi view streaming" for 5G connectivity. The solution provides an advanced concept of "second screen", enabling five simultaneous streaming. The world's first video application on new technology 5G was unveiled at MWC Barcelona 2019.

Orvieto, 27 February 2019 – Vetrya [VTY.MI], Italian group, leader in the development of digital services, cloud computing platforms, app solutions and broadband services, designs and develops for TIM and Qualcomm Technologies Inc. a live streaming media solution based on 5G NR connectivity.

The innovative service relies on the Vetrya’s multi-screen video distribution platform 4/8K (Eclexia) and its interactive application into an advanced concept of "second screen" on 5G connectivity, with five contemporary streaming in multi-view.

The application provides live streaming services 4K, rental video on demand and digital video recorder. Through the "camera selection" function, it offers the possibility to select at will the video stream of a transmission (e.g. sports show), creating a personal direction. The chance to watch simultaneously the video streams in a video mosaic, makes the service one of a kind and the first application video in the world based on the new 5G connectivity. The service provides next-generation multimedia experience by leveraging 5GNR connectivity in collaboration with Nokia Networks and a smartphone 5G Xiaomi, using the modem Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ X50 5G.

“The innovative multi-view streaming service, developed for two industry giants such as TIM and Qualcomm, recognises and confirms our natural predisposition to innovation - said the Chairman and CEO of Vetrya Group, Luca Tomassini - I am personally very proud because already in 2003, always together with TIM, we launched the first video service in the world based on 2,5G technology and now we continue to write together this important page in the history of communication”.
